Mark was one of nine inducted into the prestigious Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2022, an honour he shares with Australian sporting legends such as Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Jack Brabham, Cathy Freeman, Greg Norman to name a few.

SAHOF said of the 2022 inductee list:

Nine new inductees were announced today into the nation’s most prestigious sporting club, the Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF).

The 2022 inductees include two greats of Australia’s leading football codes, two champions in their sports on the world stage and past Olympic and Commonwealth Games gold medallists.

The new inductees are Paralympic movement pioneer Sir George Bedbrook OBE, former Australian netball captain and multiple Commonwealth Games medallist Catherine Cox AM, former Australian Rugby League captain Brad Fittler, four-time consecutive Olympic Games softball medallist Tanya Harding, triple Commonwealth Games ten-pin bowling gold medallist Cara Honeychurch, former Australian basketball coach Dr Adrian Hurley OAM, two-time Brownlow medallist and six-time AFL All-Australian Chris Judd, winner of 41 LPGA tour titles and two-time LPGA player of the year award winner, Karrie Webb AO, and Mark Webber AO, who broke the 28 year winning drought for Australian drivers in Formula One.

Those who are inducted into this elite group are our nation’s leading champions. They have not only excelled in their chosen field, but have done so with dignity, integrity, courage, modesty, pride and ambition.
