After equalling Sir Jack Brabham’s 13 pole positions on Saturday, Mark suffered a slow getaway and had to fight his way back to second place – the 40th podium finish of his career and the 100th podium in the history of Red Bull Racing.

Mark takes pole for tomorrow’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix!

After the disappointment of last weekend’s Indian Grand Prix, Mark heads to the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi in search of his sixth podium finish of the season.

“It would have been nice to win the constructors’ title with both of us on the podium,” says Mark. “The team has done a phenomenal job this year, proving once again that it is the benchmark in F1.”

“Well done to Seb on his Championship and also to all the Team; to get a fourth title is amazing.” said Mark amid his own disappointment on having to retire from the race with an alternator failure.

“We thought it was worth trying something a little bit different with the strategy today, so that’s why we ran the primes in Q3,” explained Mark after qualifying fourth for tomorrow’s Indian Grand Prix, the first of the runners on the medium compound tyres.

“The car is very consistent, but we need to work on the tyres and make sure we get the most out of them,” says Mark after an encouraging first day of the Indian Grand Prix.

“I like the rhythm of this place,” Mark says, “It’s quite a challenging layout, it’s quite quick and it has a little bit of undulation.”
