Qantas Airways is Australia’s largest domestic and international airline with the Qantas Group offering services to 182 destinations in 44 countries around the globe. Qantas is also proud to be one of the most recognised brands in Australia.
Qantas has been behind the Australian Grand Prix for the past 25 years. In 2011, Qantas approached Australian F1 driver Mark Webber to become a Qantas Ambassador. At the announcement of the partnership, Mark said he was honoured to have been chosen. “Qantas is such an iconic Australian brand. As a sportsperson, I love representing my country on the world stage and being a Qantas Ambassador means I’m able to represent Qantas wherever I am in the world,” Mark said.
2011 saw Mark nurture his ambition to transfer his skill set from the grid to the skies by becoming a pilot, sharing with the public his desire to fly post his Formula 1 career. As part of the partnership, Mark and his mentor Qantas A380 Captain Mark Penklis are working together on the transition from F1 to flight cockpit including spending time in the Qantas flight simulator.
Qantas has continued its event partnership as the Naming Rights Sponsor of the 2012 Formula 1™ Australian Grand Prix and will continue to work closely with Mark throughout the 2012 season.
