Car 6 MARK WEBBER, Finish Position: 3rd, Start Position: 1st
“Sebastian had a bit of a top speed advantage, he went down the inside and we were side by side. I was surprised when he came right suddenly, as I was holding my racing line. It happened very, very fast and it’s a shame for the team. Not an ideal day. The McLarens were solid and it was a good race between all four of us up at the front until then, neither of us wanted to make contact with each other. It’s obviously not ideal, but it happened. There was a long way to still go in the race, but that was an interesting few metres on the track between both of us. In the end it wasn’t the result that either of us wanted. We’ve got great character in our team and two fast drivers at the front – we’re not dicing for 15th and 16th – we’re going for victories so there’s clearly a lot at stake. I’ll have a chat with Sebastian about it, we might have a difference of opinion but we’ll be adults about it and press on.”
Car 5 SEBASTIAN VETTEL, Finish Position: DNF Start Position: 3rd
“If you watch it on the TV, you can see what happened. I’m not in the happiest of moods. I was on the inside going into the corner. I was there, I was ahead and focusing on the braking point and then we touched. Mark’s car hit my rear right wheel and I went off – there’s not much more to say. We were all on the same pace during the race, I think I was a bit quicker than Mark for two or three laps, I was catching him and thought I could get him on the back straight. I was very close and passed him on the left, that’s the story. This is something that happens, no one needs it, but there’s not much you can do now.”
CHRISTIAN HORNER, Team Principal: “It’s disappointing for the team to have got into that position today. The one thing I always ask the drivers is that, yes, they can race each other, but give each other room, and that’s exactly what didn’t happen. They were too far over on the left, Sebastian got a run on the inside of Mark, but then came across too early. They didn’t give each other room; it’s as simple as that. It was a massively close race between us and the McLarens up until that point. We managed to get ourselves ahead with a better pit-stop and a better strategy for Sebastian and were first and second. Sebastian was a bit happier on the prime tyre than Mark and was looking quicker at that point in the race. He got a run on Mark up the inside and we saw what happened. It’s massively disappointing and the situation shouldn’t have occurred. To give McLaren 28 points on a plate is very frustrating for everyone in the team – especially after so much hard work. We’ve lost a lot of points today with what’s happened. We need to learn from it, so we don’t find ourselves in this position again.”
FABRICE LOM, Renault, Principal Engineer Track Support: “Today’s result is a big shame. We had a very good result in our hands, but unfortunately we didn’t cement it. But, if we want to keep the positive, we have to underline that both cars were trouble free mechanically today – the engines performed very well and we gave a very good defence on the long straight against the McLarens. We are still in a good position in both Championships, so let’s put this behind us and recover for the next race in Canada.”

This is the best thing that could have happened. The outside world now knows a bit more about whats been happening inside the Team. You now have a points advantage over your team mate. Keep showing Red Bull your talent with wins that will force them to move their energy behind you and make Vettel your number 2. Your Experience and talent is showing over your team mate. Your the complete package on and off the track. F1 is lucky to have you.
sammy 1st june 2010 if u trying to talk f1 please learn to spell shame on you
The shame-faced bias from RBR for Vettel really amazes me.
Webber had pole, had the lead, had held it for 40+ laps, and Johnny-come-lately decides he can be a hero and make a desperate do-or die-effort down the inside and brings the whole circus down…. Hello…??? They had the opportunity of an almost guaranteed 1-2, and Vettel’s ego solely, made it a 3-0. So who’s to blame????
If it had been Button or Hamilton trying to squeeze down the inside, Webber would have been a hero in the RBR camp for holding him out, and even in doing so, Webber was being kind – he could have cut his nose off early in the peace and said no-go!
Mark has been really badly maligned in this – he did exactly as they teach you in Grade 1 in Racing Driver School – Prevent the other guy from passing – Webber = 100%
Mark – go stick it fair up em in Canada, and then go on to win the WDC…
I’ve been constructively critical in the past in saying that you needed to show more “mongrel” – well – congrats – I reckon that was a bit of Rottweiler – come on if you dare…:)
Great work – go get ‘em!
The remarks from your camp Mark have been very disappointing to say the least. It is obvious that their is a natural bias towards Vettel. No doubt he is a talented driver but, he also comes across as a spoilt brat!!
Keep your head down Mark and show your team how consistent you can be. I have followed you since the beginning and I always will.
Suck it up Vettel and for godsake, grow up!!!
Mark remember the old latin saying
‘Illegitimi non carborundum’
if you are not sure what it means please look up Wikipedia.
Hope things go better in Canada
Vettel is ignoring the fact that he turned into Mark’s path, while Mark just kept his line.
Mark, you have the support of everybody who is impartial, which does NOT include biased Marko. And we all know that Vettel cost you 10 championship points. I sincerely hope you win the world championship!
Hey Mark,
You’ve been doing a superb job lately. I’ve always liked you as a driver and I’m happy to finally see you shine.
I know you’ve got the brains to not let this incident distract you from the next few races and I’m sure you will only use it as a motivation to start a new hattrick! I will see you in Spa-Francorchamps!
Marijn
PS: Vettel should know that right has priority on the road
Don’t worry Mark “we’ll keep the BASTARDS honest” Dr Marko has more than 1 glass marble rolling around in that empty head of his.Ha Ha!!
As you said ” Head down in Canada”
Vettel’s fault. nuf sed !!
Go get em’ in Canada Mark. You are doing all us Aussies proud.
Mark – we’re looking forward to another dominant virtuoso performance in Canada. There’s no need to use history as motivation, you are clearly the class act and the pick of the field right now. Looking forward to seeing your mental and driving dominance on display at Montreal.
It’s very clear now where allegiances lie and very foolish of Red Bull to look to the future and not the present. They may not have the fastest car next year.
I think the best thing for you to do now Mark is to put your head down, win this year’s championship and then tell them all to shove it.
Good Job all around Mark. You are in the right and deserve every ounce of the support you’ve received.
Tune the assclowns out and keep doing what you’re doing.
I’m psyched for Montreal!
I guess one good thing that will come out of this is the team will be extra careful not to play favourites, otherwise they will have a riot on their hands if something like this happens again! The other good thing – Vettel has some catch-up to do now because of his stupidity. Good luck in Canada Mark!
ok enoughs enough lets get on with the season br are never going to admit what happened all the shit flying will only put mark off the next race he’s got the point we saw the swerve but it happened and all the goss is just making mark uncomfortable we support you mark and always will good luck for canada revenge is sweet.
I woder if Marko has burped and put Vettal to bed yet first he rear ends you now this if it was another driver in another team RBR would be 100% behind Mark but it wasn’t its RBR long term investmant and he doesn’t like being out classed stick to your guns mate and get what that crown.
Seb thought it safe to assume he was in the right – needless to say when you assume you make an ASS out of U M E… and ruin my tipping comp
It is all about SPONSORSHIP. The money that would come in from Germany if Vettel wins the championship is greater. Money is the answer. I’m pissed.
Vettel should be band for life from f1
I cant wait for Vettel to try and come back to aus only to find out he will never be able to enter again !!!I am asking our gov to ban Vettel for life!!!
Mark im going to lobby the aus gov to never let Vettel back in our country!!!And i hope other govs will do the same!!!If i was the boss RedBull he would be packing his bags!!!I think he should hand in his racing licence and leave for good !!! Everyone in the world hates him !!!He should not even have a normal drivers licence.I hope our gov will listen and ban him from ever coming here again!!!Good luck Mark
Mark – is it true Seb Vettal has now been identified as the driver that car in Tassie that knocked you off your bike last year??
All the best mate – your professionalism has made us all proud
Hi Mark,
love and support coming to you from Belgium! Hope Vettel came to his senses and realises you did nothing wrong.
Good luck!!!
Mark you WERE RIGHT!
Vettel did a huge mistake.
RedBull bosses did a huge mistake.
We all know, and also Helmut, Christian, Dietrich know, that you were RIGHT.
Keep going on, this is your CHAMPIONSHIP 2010!
Show it them
I believe Mr Horner’s remark “They were too far over on the left, Sebastian got a run on the inside of Mark, but then came across too early.” says it all, specially the “too early”. From what I saw on TV I didn’t seem that Seb “came right suddenly”, but he did came right. If he had enough space to pass Mark, than he didn’t need to turn right, at least not before being sure it was safe to, specially considering it was his team mate next to him. And if he was just “focusing on the braking point”, that he’s got to learn that he’s not alone on the track. I consider him a very fast and talented driver, although still young, but also is Lewis and he and Jenson gave a very good lesson for him only 2 laps after.
G’day Mark, you have a mountain of support coming in from all round the world, everyone knows what they saw and heard. You have always performed, and conducted youself in a professional manner that has made you the respected person that you are today. This unfortunate event can and will only make you a stronger, wiser and more determined than before. Congratulations and good luck in Canada.
We support you.
Mark, you rock and my crew hope you win the title this year. Seb, you are a clown and quite clearly a fool. If this is how RBR thinks they are going to win a world crown (by poor team tactics)then clearly they are smoking too much ego laced ganga. Go Well Mr Webber Sir you deserve at least one title, RBR or no.
This seems to be getting out of “Media Hand”. Seb was in the wrong, couldn’t see it at the time, but maybe does now. The team made comments that do lead me to suggest “RB’s priority focus” is on Seb a little more than Mark, but I do (Or at least pre season I did) understand why. Red Bull had no idea Mark was going to be so competitive this year and they simply don’t know how to handle it. Their minds are not tuned into Mark being the number 1 driver, or an equal, it showed to an ignorant degree, with the initial assumption they felt Seb was in the right. There is now ever building pressure on Seb, while Mark is quietly getting on with accumulating points and gaining massive public sympathy (I am not sure how much quicker public sympathy makes the cars go, maybe half a second a lap or so). It’s a one off incident, the swerve probably was a tactic designed to put Mark off, it didn’t work, and there were significant consequences. 9 times out of 10, and with a different opponent, that swerve may have paid off for a driver like Seb. It was an attempt to stamp authority over mark that just wasn’t happening. In all honesty, its drivers with that attitude that are “Driven to win”, and we’d all rather choose a driver with aggression like that if we were footing the salary bill, than not. I criticise what happened because it was a team mate, and was irresponsible but we’d all do the same under the circumstances to get a win if we were that hungry. Gentleman racers rarely win championships, the greatest we remember in any sport was never a gentlemen (Ok so, Roger Federer is a nice guy, but not on a court). To respond to the other comments people have input, this idea about hating members of the team, sacking them, MW moving to Ferrari and such like is a nonsense beyond belief. Mark is in the only car that can loose the Championship, and they are fundamentally good people at Red Bull particularly I think Little Jack (Mr Horner) is one of the most decent individual in F1, and theres few better, were not all perfect and say or even assume the correct stance just after something happens, we wake up once we get exposure to the realities of what happened. But we’d take significant pleasure if MW takes the championship this year, and so would RB after what RB they learned about him this year, in reality I think they would secretly take more pleasure than him winning the Championship than Seb, but Seb it was always felt was the “Safer” pair of hands to deliver this. Its not proved that way this year, and its not easy to digest. PS. What am I doing on this site: I think I’m a Michael Schumacher fan??
It is racing, nothing else. Seb was faster and even if you did keep your racing line, it is your team mate, your give space. Take a leave out of MaClaren book. It is good too race against your team mate, not smart to push him and not give space. You do good this season, keep it that way.
I fail to blame anyone here as you are both good drivers.
Management do not hold the steering wheel, common sense does. This is a team boys, you play nice now.
Hi Mark.
lm pissed of big-time. l have followed RBR since day 1, and what Seb did was pure jelousy. Mark, the truth has come to a head, that your so-called team mate is a total [site manager edit]. You clearly gave him room, by moving to the right, which gave you prime track position. Seb, wasn’t passed you so you had every right to protect your position. He on the other hand realised and did not want to yeild, so he used his kamakazi scare tactics by bumping into you wanting you to yeild instead! He has no defence. Infact his driving was negligent, dangerous and utterly un-called for to say the least. He was lucky a huge accident didn’t occur hurting you or anyone else. He needs to be reprimanded by the Sports Governing body, fine, grid placements at the very least. RBR needs to penalise him aswell. He stuffed up your win and also dinted the team’s Constructor’s title hopes. lt is a miricle you were able to continue and still finish 3rd. Your a gun Mark, no doubt about it and i have followed your whole career. You finally have a car that can perform and nothing makes me smile more than you ripping out fasted lap, one after another. Seb showed you and the whole RBR team no respect with his tactics. Keep up the top driving and no-one can stop you. Your the true sportsman after the race, even though we could see you bleeding from the inside. No-one can say a bad word about you and if they do, well they have been the knockers since you started F1. lm rapt as im sure all your other fans are that you are really showing not only Austrlia, but the world, what Mark Webber can do when he has something to work with.
Your Number 1 fan, Abs.
Sorry Webber..althoe you were in the right it looks to all that its time for you to go to Farrari. Red Bull hasn’t got your back.
when you look at it would Mark have done the same thing ,i think not patience is a virtue it pays great dividends in motorsport
Vettel is a very fast racer, but a very simple one. Hope Mark kicks his spoilt arse.
I’ve been a Button fan for a long time, but I’ve always liked the way Mark handled himself off and on the track. I was even starting to like the Red Bull team. As things are now, it is not possible to like Red Bull as a team and not like MW as a driver. I really look forward to MW winning the championship this year!
If you feel Red Bull isn’t being fair on Webber, let’s let them know how much we support him by joining the facebook group – I used to support Red Bull Racing…Now just Mark Webber
I hope you get an apology from Helmut Marko Mark. He is a divisive figure that should be kicked to the kerb by the big DM. It must be hard having to pretend you like Vettel for the cameras all the time, even more so now. On the up side, you won a lot of fans in Turkey so take some strenght from that.
Mark, if you moved over and gave seb the racing line, your fans would have been real pissed off.
You raced well. RBR should kick seb’s arse.
Sure Horner,
You Suck if Vettel cant take the heat then get outta the kitchen! You cant baby him forever! the only thing he has displayed is his iMmaturity to race at the top level! So this now must mean no more race wins for mark otherwise poor Baby-poo Seb may go crying to the investors! You may of invested millions in him but he is not showing the maturity that it deserves!
Last time I read there was no “I” or Seb in TEAM!I handing all my merchandise to Charity! “Shit investment!”
Go Mark!
Maybe Seb should show some respect or has been hanging Shumacher for some driving tips!
Red Bull have clearly exposed their desire for Vettel to be the number one driver, which is very unsavoury and completely unfair.
Mark drove exactly like any professional driver would have done. Why should he let his team mate past when he has won 2 races and claimed 3 poles in a row. If anything, Vettel should have been protecting his rear guard, seeing as the pit stops were done and the cars were in fuel save mode. He had his chance, and did not take them.
Well done mark. Continue to stick it to them and prove that you are a true World Title contender.
We are 100% behind you!!!
I cannot understand why nearly every commentator including previous F1 drivers say it was 100% Vettel’s fault and you get two goons from RBR senior ranks blaming Mark? Smells like a rat to me. Stick it to Vettel Mark, he obviously seems like a very spoilt little boy. Good luck for the rest of the season. Show em’ that true Aussie grit mate!
Hi Mark,
Just wanted to say that all the guys back home are really stoked with the work you are doing. We are really annoyed with your poxy team mate SV and feel that what happened in Turkey could be the catalyst to drive you to more wins and stick it up him.
Cheers,
Matt
Perth WA
Great race…too bad that it’s ended this way….
You’re fans support you and know that what happened on the track was Vettel mistake..You did nothing wrong,i’ve watched like 10 times the accidentand clearly Vettel evevn if he had room to go ahead,he pulled right ….big mistake. In the end,i hope you’ll winn the F1 championship.
PS:Sorry for my bad english!
It seems like the german half of redbull are sided with the arrogant SEB.Mark has a great chance to win a world championship, here we have the team trying to undo the great work for mark to have Seb beat him..? Seb has many years to go to get that chance. It`s not right they are blaming Mark,Unless they ordered mark to give way . Why will they tell Mark to turn down the engine while letting Seb keep driving agressive. The two Mclarens were told to conserve fuel when they touched when challanging each other,That was clearly a nice way to say stop racing each other. If the Redbull team told Mark and not Seb that then…
from memory Seb crashed into Mark a while ago in the wet when mark had a chance to win his first race….. it aint the first time.. Good Luck Mark..
Hope you dont let this get to you and keep winning the next races.
In terms of race protocol, Webber did not have to yield, bottom line is that Vettel though he could imtimdate Webber, and that he would give in. He obviously does not know his team mate very well. I guess Vettel is only young and will hopefully learn to time his passes better, and get to know his team mates strength of character. Webber as always has handled this with class…as opposed to Horner and Vettel who is acting like a rich, spoiled brat who Webber clearly has the measure of now…and Vettel cannot handle it.
There is really no debate, Mark just held his line which he was entitled to do. Vettel pulled right into him before he was past. the bigger concern is if the team effectively tried to gift the victory to Vettel by giving the drivers different engine settings.
Vettel had enough tarmac for the width of his car – he tried to intimidate Mark and it turned to custard – Vettel would have had a perfect view of Mark’s front wheel and known they were going to collide – you have to drive around people, not into them
What impact, if any, will this incident have on Mark resigning for RB? Will RB use this against him and does that explain Christian Horner’s pro Vettel comments?
Hey red bull hope you can get over this and bring the championship home just remember work as a team and win win win
Vettels front wheels were in front but that dosent mean you can suddenly move right and ignore the rest of Webbers car following.
Even if Webber wanted to move out of the way, which he didnt have to , he would have had no time.
Vettels move was deliberate , childish and shows he expects to be No 1.
Hi Mark, i’d like to commend you on your proffessional and mature handling of the incident in Turkey. Another fantastic drive. Don’t let it get you down. Bring on Canada!
Seb gave no warning of his move which was an unexpected and sudden dive to the right. Mark had no chance to avoid him, or give space. No way was Mark at fault!
mark, you are ignoramus, A man with you position at red bull to blame Mark for the accident is totally unacceptable.i think you should resign and look for a new carrier in politics.let me tel you one more thing Marco and that you will lose your wonderkid at the end of 2011 to either Ferrari or Mercedes.
yours sincerely Ivan
What a disappointment for Mark who I believe could have easily won this race. Marks success is obviously affecting Vettel who looked like he swurved right in frustration to push Mark out the way. Atleast Vettel was out of the race and Mark managed to finish 3rd. All the best Mark, we are all behind you!
Chin up Mark, you are doing the right stuff. Dignity and class over your bratty, immature and petulant team mate. Everyone knows it was his fault. RBR would do well to stop trying to throw you under the bus, it’s a PR disaster for them to spin all this BS.
I´m your argentinian fan. I believe that Sebastian I mistake, not only in the track but in his declarations also.It is necessary to be able to play clean in the track. You are a gentleman in the track, you can continue this way. I wish the better thing you =)
Seb’s fault all the way. Amateur mistake. Webber kept his line and Seb just smashed into him. Seb’s wants to win a championship based on a better reputation. He needs to get his head together before he implodes on himself.
There seems to be no mention of Vettel’s jerk to the right to line up for the left turn. He obviously caused the hit into Mark. If they had both braked straight, the clash would not have occurred. It was Vettel’s action that caused the touch – Webber ran straight and left a car-sized space. Hard but fair.
sack helmet marko
I can’t believe what happened in Turkey ! No need to go on about it, the worlds media and all the spectators know what went down both on the track and afterwards. Mark, you can hold your head high mate. The way you conducted yourself shows just why we support you.
Hope you continue to crush your team mate and take the title this year. It would be well deserved
Mark keep going, use it as motivation…..
You’ve kicked his ass all year, just keep kicking it….
Vettel: what [site manager edit] planet are you on, grow up…..
bet it was Marks fault it did not rain as well
Is VETTEL, for real!!!!!!!!!!
This KID needs to get a reality check and a eye test. Stupid Stupid little boy.
Wrecked a 1’2 finish for the TEAM and a third straight for Mark.
It´s a shame for red bull team to attack Mark Webber like that – but I still hope that Mark will show the team who is the number one! – and he definitely is!
It´s a shame for Red Bull to attack Mark Webber like that! He is in the lead in the championship and it was definitely Seb Vettel´s fault-he is too crazy and can´t wait! Anyway Mr Marko was and will be always on Vettels side because at the beginn of the season he told that Red Bull will support Seb Vettel as much as they can – he never ever said anything about Mark Webber – BUT thanks a lot Mark you showed them who ist the best in the team! Best greetings from a real good friend since Jaguar Racing time!
Mark,
without doubt, you were “correct” in turkey. Put it all straight by finishing the job with the title, then saunter off to a different team….
Video footage shows it was Vetel’s fault. Spoilt little child. Keep up the great driving Mark.
I can’t believe what I saw when Vettel made gestures against Webber.
It was clearly Vettel’s fault.
And then when the team defends Vettel and hugs him.
I had high thoughts about Christian Horner earlier but they are gone now.
The only comfort for me is that Webber now leads with 15 points over Vettel instead of the possible 7.
But I just hate that Webber lost the victory he deserved.
Nice to see that at least Martin Brundle and also Coulthard was on Webber side.
It is very clear from the video footage that Vettel was in the wrong. Vettel changed line and move over on Mark trying to force him wide. Vettel is a spoilt little child. Keep up the great driving Mark.
From the video footage it is very clear that Vettel changed line and moved over on Mark. Vettel, Horner and Marko need to appologies to Mark publicly. Vettel is a spoilt little child. Keep up the great driving Mark.
Yep..SV”s a [Site Manager Edit]….Everyone knows it….Even Louis hamilton knew it was a victory by default…not skill
Think a lot of people have lost respect for Red Bull, Christian Horner and especially Vettel. Just check out the red bull racing website. Unfortunately Vettel isn’t an adult. He’s just a crybaby needing a lot of cuddling. Hope Mark wins the championship and moves to Ferrari. GO Mark!!!
it wasn´t yours mistake, never give up!
all mark needs to do is have a quick look at the rbr site and the comments attached to see which side the public is on.
Christian Horner has lost all credibility after Istanbul. Is Mark Webber the only one in the RedBull camp with any integrity?
That’s not what the team principal said, he flat out blamed Mark for the incident. Cmon Red Bull at least print what he said accurately. Once again favoritism shown by Red Bull to the European racer to the point where the team instructed Mark to turn down his engine. The Red Bull team should be charged with fixing race results, how many people do you think had money on Webber to win yet Red Bull tell him to turn down his engine so Vettel gan get past him????
Mark, he hit you! Its clear on the video. We are all behind you. Keep going mate, you can still win the championship.
What happened yesterday is terribly unfortunate.
Given the damage done to the team and both drivers, it hardly seems necessary to apportion blame. That the team would position itself behind one or the other so as to increase acrimony seems an naive move, at best.
One of the greatest things to watch with RBR over the past 2 seasons has been the teamwork and commitment to said shared by everyone.
Sort out behind doors what was to have happened, share the proper information- and enough of it to squelch public condemnation- and get back to what you all do well.
I have been super impressed with Mark’s driving and support of his teammate’s success, the maturity he brings is apparent. But this isn’t his alone to bear. And the longer the team lets this go on, the greater the divide between the team.
Go an and have yourself the remainder of a remarkable season, Mark. Share your wisdom, tenacity and maturity with your teammate, and show the rest of the F1 soap opera you’re bigger than this Turkey incident.
The footage clearly shows Sebastian moving suddenly across into Mark’s car. He was obviously trying to set the car to enter the corner before he was past Mark. Even if he had held that line and not moved across into Mark, I doubt weather he would have held position from that point. A bit of a Kamakazi move so early in the race.
It was a very obvious crazy move by Vettel and everyone says it’s 100% his fault except Red Bull. This shows us what we already suspected, that Vettel is Red Bull’s darling and prefered over Mark. Yet still they lie in every interview stating they treat their drivers equally. Shame on Horner, Marko and the whole team. I hope they never win with Vettel again.
why can’t seb just say i thought i had enough room you were holding your position i am sorry, why is it all marks fault? it always seems seb is moody when mark does well sorry seb deal with it well done mark to control the car and stay on the track
Hold your head up high Mark, blind Freddy could see this was Vettel’s fault. Horner is well out of line – maybe you should be chatting to Ferrari for next year after all!!
I think it was Mark’s fault and that’s clear.
Christian likes both but he knows what happened and know that’s Mark’s fault. Mark has to be quiet!
Sebastian go for gold!!
The rest of the world said it was Seb’s fault… Horner needs to look again at the footage and the comments of hundreds of thousands of people…. Otherwise Horner is as arrogant and stupid as Vettel. Time to FESS UP Vettel, go got it WRONG !!
Yes Seb came up very fast, but oh what a stupid impetous move !
He came across to Mark who kept his line looking for his braking point however Seb came at him again and this caused the collision.(Ask Lewis) I guess that Seb thought he could scare Mark into backing off, however there are about 6 drivers who will not be easily scared off and unfortunately for young Seb, Mark Webber is one of them. Stick to doing it to the young drivers Seb, you might be better off.
No fault of Marks what so ever
Webber totally raced Vettel and kept him on the dirty part of the track holding his line. Vettel has been getting more and more agitated, just look at his body language during the press review at qualifying. He was just way to aggressive. Seems to me that Vettel needs to understand that here is no ‘I’ in the word team. Well done mark in keeping a cool head both during the race and after..!
Anyone with an opinion on this should head over to the Red Bull Racing website and read the rection from fans worldwide. Keep up the great work Mark, you deserve better.
as James said can`t believe that they are saying its mark`s fault. vettel needs to open his eyes.
You’re doing a great job Mark. Stay focussed and the results will come. Incidents like this will only make you stronger and smarter.
Absolutely! You can clearly see that Vettel moved across significantly. Good on Mark for his dignified handling of the situation after the race. Pity I can’t say the same for Vettel.
Good on u webber! Team orders can go to ….
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Vettel move to the right and across the nose of Mark’s car.
Mark had the race under control and I’ve no doubt that he could have regained the place had Vettel taken you cleanly. Pity he didn’t know how to do that.
Mark, you’re still the championship leader so keep up the good work and hopefully we’ll have another Aussie World Champ come the end of the season.
@James exactly.. Go Webber GO!
Really Really silly….but it was Seb’s fault. What was he thinking?
This is the second time Vettel has run into Mark Webber and cost him a race win.Back in 2007 at Fuji where ,Vettel ran into the back of Mark on lap 45 under safety car conditions.Mark was in 2nd place at the time. Anyone who watches F1 could clearly see it was Vettel’s fault. Vettel moved right, into the side of Mark’s car.If he had acted as a team mate he never would have tried to overtake like that.Jenson & Lewis had no problems overtaking each other in the race and never tried to run each other off the road.
I agree with James. It would appear Vettel is failing to live up to his great expectations. You could see the way he was shaking his head at the post qualifying press conference he was even ticked Mark went out ahead of him in Q3. Vettel needs to grow up and realise Mark is the better driver at the moment… Go get ‘em Mark!
You could see Vettel was ticked after qualifying that he was pipped by Mark. I think the boy has a bad attitude and needs to get over the fact that Mark is in better form this year. You go Mark – you make us Aussie’s proud!
Clearly Seb had the run but how can you blame both drivers when the drivers rely on the team management for information, take your hand out of your pocket Christian and take some ownership of the situation and admit as a support team you let both drivers down through poor communication being the actual cause.
It is a big shame that it happen and I hope this will even spurr you on even more Mark……
fantastic drive once again mark. unfortunately not all of the drivers are as competent as you. i’d like to commend you on your proffessional handling of the situation. Bring on Canada with a useful F-Duct!
Its disgusting that anyone would try to pin the blame on Webber. Particularly the team. Straight out Seb’s fault as echoed by most if not all media. Very poor Red Bull!!!
Sebastian’s fault all the way. What a grub he is.
Very messy of Seb to put himself and nearly Mark out of the race!
I would be having strong words with him about team play and not getting frustrated when his team mate does better than he does!
But, well done to Mark for getting the car home and minimising the points loss to Maclaren
in complete agreement with J.F. Time for a new T.shirt with the by-line. Christian Horner…should have gone to spec savers!
Vettel clearly came across on Webber and hit him. Methinks Seb is getting a bit frustrated that Mark is having a better season than he is.
Yes I agree totally Vettels fault. These things happen with racing drivers but just wish Seb would acknowledge the blame
A thumbs up for defending first position with clean racing. Vettel was obvious frustrated and did a bad move. Cant wait Canada.
Its a shame that events seem to conspire against Mark. Leading for 40 lap and told to conserve fuel. Horner then suggests Seb was ‘looking quicker…’ something seems wrong! However you see the event itself, interesting to observe how differently the drivers dealt with the issue. Sebs ‘crazy’finger… reminds you he is still very young and now VERY rattled.
How can the guy (Webber) driving in a straight line be held accountantable? Surely blame must lie 100% with the driver (Vettel) who turns right into his team mate for a left hand corner!
What is vettel thinking?? The [site manager edit]. If u watch the footage his car clearly darts right whilst marks car doesn’t deviate from his line. 100% vettel’s fault. He shouldn’t have even been there.
Not sure what race Horner and Marko were at… Vettel’s certainly not showing the maturity I thought would come this year. Stay strong Mark. Let your results do the talking.
mark, we hold to you!!!
I find, sebastian has the blame. one sees this, nevertheless, in videos, however, team gives mark them blame, this is not fair…
Sorry end to a stella drive Mark st least you finished 3rd and Vettel’s DNF fits well for him, not the team though the race was yours and your own team mate blew it well done mate.
All I can say is good luck Mark for the rest of the year…although read between Helmut Markos comments about the incident. He sees you … wrongly … as Seb Vettel’s rear gunner … how disappointing, considering the majority of the world media and Lewis Hamilton supports your version.
Not your fault Mark.
Now go win the Championship!
I can not believe HOW even Red Bull Management are Trying to BLAME Mark Webber for the Race Incident.
Mark had pole, Mark was in the Lead, Mark had the RACING Line NOT Seb, Seb turned Tyre/Wheel into Marks car IN the Middle, I thought the REAR Tyre was supposed to be in that position BEFORE a Driver Yields.
MARK was NOT at Fault.
GO Mark..you good think!!!
What was Seb thinking of!! Clearly his fault. You deserved better Mark. Keep up the good work Mark. Don’t let this incident get you down. Better luck next time out.
Not your fault Mark.
Now go win that Championship!
I love to see both drivers racing, but i must say Vettal was definately in the wrong and with so many laps left to complete. If he was so sure that he could overtake Webber then why not wait for a better run at him say on the front or back straits?
Vettel is at fault, and the stewards should penalise him for the next race.
Horner tells Webber to turn his engine down – while leading – what the hell did he expect to happen. A bit too much Vettel favoritism – and how about a proper appology to Webber.
We’re (Aus F1 fans) all behind you Mark. Clearly not your fault. Well done for showing restraint and maturity at the post race press conference. You’re a team player
Oh diddums Vettels, spoilt kid. He deliberatly drove into the side of Mark and Horner and others in RB blame Mark WTF???.Way out of order.
And Vettel is a ‘team mate’…. I would hate to be his enemy
Chin up Mark. We race fans objectively saw what happened. Vettel should listen to his own advice and watch the tape.
The comments of RBR management only do disgrace to themselves. There are so many holes in their story it’s pathetic.
Best of luck to you, from a new fan in the USA!
clearly vettel,s doing. it was a risky move that ended in loss of race and constructors lead . all the best for next race mark. australia is behind you all the way
I agree. I have read many many blogs this morning and approx 90% say it was Sebs fault. I can’t believe the views of Christian and Marko. Very biased. My estimation of the Reb Bull management has taken a dive today. They clearly favour the German wonder boy! He clearly hates to be beaten by a team mate!
Clearly the fault of two people who can’t think on the spot. They both missed the brakes by about 20 meters. If they hadn’t touched, they would both have run wide anyway. If Webber was a class act, he would have got back on the racing line, braked in time and come out of the corner in 1st with Vettel in 4th having run wide on the dirty line. Webber is lucky to have the quickest car. Vettel is quick in the quickest car baring faults. Hamilton is the best racer and possibly the quickest and Button is the luckiest man alive
Mr. Horner & Marco need to have another look at the video if they think Mark was anyway to blame. Ithe bias in the team is so blatent them maybe Mark should look elsewere for next year
Seb, clearly “mentally strained” dealing with Webbers dominance!
When you are told to go into fuel save mode and youre team mate is not (who is 0.4sec behind)makes you wonder what the teams preference is.
I watch it and I still cant see what Seb was thinking he was off line and should never of been on that line.He has one to blame but himself. Mark is not to blame
Well he does say Seb moved over too early so I guess he’s trying to be diplomatic. I agree though, clearly Vettel’s fault.
Mark you deserved to win and I think Vettel was jealous and did not want you to do a “hat trick”, so thought he would put you out of the race but it backfired. Keep going Mark we love you, cheers from Australia,
Well done Mark. The world is behind you and you only have to see the assorted F1 forums to see who we think is to blame.
for a start.
Keep up the good work
Mark should think long and hard about resigning with Red Bull after this incident. When the whole paddock takes one view and Horner takes another, something is wrong.
desperate maneuver 100% seb,s fault a and a bit immature from seb, but com mark keep focused mate
A disapointinmg end to three brilliant poles, and two magnificent wins. I just hope the team plays fair. Eveyone questioned on the BBC said it was Sebs fault. I think that Marks briiliant form really has Seb rattled and endin up in a rash passing move to show off. Was Vettel asked to turn his engine down?
Never mind Mark make it 4 in a row in Canada and keep the pressure up. One more thing have you re-signed for next year yet?
a 100% seb,s fault , i think a bit of immaturity from seb, seeing mark doing so well, it looked a desperate maneuver from him, come on mark keep focused mate.
Webber kept his line, nothing else. Someone should tell the young and frustrated Vettel the truth.
To blame Webber is utterly crazy, Vettel turned in way to early, Christian Horner should keep neutral on this or tell it as it is; Vettel is to blame.
Clearly Seb Vettel’s fault. Christian Horner is bang out of line trying to blame Mark Webber.
Mark Webber is the Team Principal of MW Arden, a three car team in the new GP3 series supporting European Grands Prix.
Mark,
it is clear and obvious that Vettel deliberately rammed his car sharply left into the side of your car, which did not move. Vettel has shown his juvenile and grasping attitude by his statment that blames you for the accident he casued, and I think quite obviously deliberately. It looked as though he was determined to take both of you out, rather than see you win again. Be alert and wary with this child, he has no morals whatsoever!
