Mark’s Spa Preview – Back to Racing

POSTED ON August 26th, 2010

“This weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix can’t come soon enough. As is the case most years, the mid-season break went on for too long; after about 10 days I began to miss the adrenaline, speed and sector times of a race weekend, so I’m looking forward to getting back into my RB6.

“Spa-Francorchamps is a sensational racetrack, with a lot of history and some very challenging corners. I expect our car to be very competitive through the twisty middle sector of the lap and we’ll only find out once the on-track action starts whether we’re quick enough though sectors 1 and 3, where straight-line speed is important.

“I’m quietly confident that we’ll have enough because the RB6 has been fast at every racetrack this year. At Valencia, which has several long straights like Spa, my team-mate Sebastian Vettel and I locked out the front row of the grid, and if we can replicate that level of performance here we can aim to spray more champagne on Sunday afternoon.

“After my victory in Hungary, I’m leading the world championship again. It’s a great place to be, but I’m not getting carried away because it’s very tight at the top and there are still seven races to go. Of the five drivers still in with a shout of the title – me, Vettel, Hamilton, Button and Alonso – three of them are world champions and one of them is my team-mate, so it’s going to be flat-out all the way to Abu Dhabi.

“I’m the only driver to have won four races this year and I’m hungry to make it five on Sunday. I love racing at Spa and can think of no better place to add to my tally.”

I’m very sad to hear you’re thinking of leaving F1 in 2012. I hope you’ll change you mind about it!

Hi Mark, I wish you a very happy birthday. I hope you’re well entertained, and you celebrate even better Sunday with champagne. What’s better than a victory as a birthday present? Mine is a little over a week, and that I shall be very happy! Especially Spa. There are victories that count more than others in their minds, and then win on the resumption, it would be a strong message to your opponents. Rain levels the performance, it will help to bridge may be the lack of speed in a straight line. Good luck this weekend, I know qe and you do your best, take care of you, fingers crossed, as always … PS: was it cool the south of France?

Great result Mark!
After not a good start, you showed again how consistent you are, driving with no errors. May be a bit of luck with Vettel and Button out of the points, but again, you did perfectly what you should do to get such beutiful points at this time of the season.
Hope now your team realizes what everybody is seeing: this is your year.
All the best for next races!! Keep doing such a good job and I am sure you will get the Championship, you deserve it!
Cheers!
