Mark became the first driver to win three races in 2010 when he stormed to victory in Sunday’s British Grand Prix. He outgunned team-mate Sebastian Vettel into the first corner and was never headed thereafter.
“I’ve always loved Silverstone,” says Mark. “I won at the track in Formula Ford, Formula 3000 and in Sportscars and to win there in F1 is the icing on the cake. The British Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious races on the calendar; every driver wants to win it and I’ve now got the trophy sitting on my mantelpiece.”
The only driver to take the fight to Mark was Lewis Hamilton, who put him under pressure during the early stages. But a succession of fastest laps soon put Mark out of reach, until the Safety Car was deployed at half distance.
“I was actually quite pleased to see the Safety Car,” says Mark, “because it closed up the field and meant I didn’t have to worry about backmarkers. As the race leader, you always worry that that backmarkers haven’t seen you coming and we saw in Valencia what can happen if a faster car stumbles over a slower one.
“Lewis was right on my gearbox at the re-start on lap 31, but I got a clean run out of the final corner and managed to put some daylight between us. On my first flying lap I set the fastest lap of the race, which sent a clear message to Lewis that it wasn’t going to be his day.”
Mark’s victory tasted all the sweeter after he’d missed out on pole position by just 0.14s on Saturday afternoon. The qualifying session was marred by controversy after Vettel was given exclusive use of an updated front wing from Red Bull Racing, but Mark kept his head and delivered when it mattered on Sunday afternoon.
“Whether the gap between us in qualifying was the difference between the two front wings, I don’t know,” says Mark. “But it was a far from ideal situation and it definitely made my win taste even sweeter.”
After celebrating with the team at Silverstone, Mark drove 45 minutes home to Aylesbury to celebrate with his family and friends.
“This was the first European race of the season that mum and dad have attended,” says Mark. “It meant a lot to have them there and it was an emotional moment when I saw them standing below me on the podium, while Advance Australia Fair was playing out.”
Mark now lies third in the world championship standings, just five points behind Jenson Button in second place. With half of the season still to run, there’s everything to play for.

whilst a McLaren fan, I was very pleased to see your victory today Mark, particularly following Christian’s front wing decision. I look forward to seeing you drive well in Germany. Congratulations. Chris
So happy for you! It was worth waiting up to watch this victory!
Awesome.
The german can go stick his head in a dead bears bum.
And maybe he wouldnt find qualifying so easy if he wasnt a midget. 2 kg = 1/10?
Great win today Webbo. Everyone knows you’re the #1 driver, except your team. Go the Aussies
Great win @ Silverstone Mark, keep a cool head for the rest of the season, your pretty good for a number 2 driver mate!
Congrats mate. You drove like a world champ in waiting.
Yes, Yes, Yes !!!
Seems to me after that Monaco drive Mark’s found that extra gear that required to win. I’ve been following him since FF daze. Great to see him in contention. I see a two horse race this season between Mark and Lewis. Vettel is a tad faster but much more eratic and Jenson, well he has a nice smile. Go Mark!!!we love ya buddy!
Mark, fantastic drive, you deserved to win!
Don’t let the turkeys get you down mate, keep flying with the eagles!
Mate – you,ve done it again – sensational!
I think it is good that all the crap you,ve had to deal with is now out in the open. THE WORLD IS BEHIND YOU. Germany won’t be a walk in the park – but it will be your’s to win.
What a fantastic weekend for you Mark, I am so pleased for you, when you past Vettel at the first corner and then seen Vettel come of the track with a punctured tyre I was jumping off the couch with excitement. You made my weekend, Awesome drive…
Bravo Mark – that win was brilliant and meant a lot to your fans, you have brought back the excitement in F1.
Fantastic job Mark and it was so sweet seeing Vetal on the outside with no were to go was even sweeter seeing him puncture and pit, love your comment on the radio your doing us Aussie’s proud mate all the best for the rest of the season.
Congratulations Mark on a fantastic race. Also your start was extremely impressive. A job well done. I wish you all the best for the remainder of the season.
Your Silverstone win last night was #%@king awesome. To win in that fashion after the lead-up to the race, was the perfect aussie reply. You have Australia right behind you. Even people who don’t follow F1 are talking about F1. Inspirational mate. Keep the aussie flag wrapped around you and keep winning. That’s what you do.
Excellent result Now concentrate on winning the World Championship. I hope you do, good luck.
Awesome work Mark, you are a true champion! Again I see that true Aussie Grit and determination. 3 Race wins!
Definitely not happy with Red Bull’s decision to deprive you of the updated front wing, when there is supposedly no team orders.
I hope you know that everyone here in Australia is 100% behind you, always.
Good luck in Germany, we’ll all be cheering you on and hoping that you beat a certain person at their home track, AGAIN!!!!
Keep taking it to them Mark!
Comment of the year Mark “Not bad for a No. 2 driver”
webber you beauty! such a great drive and coming into that first corner ahead of vettel – brilliant.
Well done Mark great driving at Silverstone, show em that aussie spirit and stick it right up em!
Fantastic race mate! Well deserved win. Champion material! Keep it up mate, backing you all the way.
Brilliant drive Mark. Showed true Aussie determination to fight back in the best possible style. Keep cool for the rest of the season and you’ll show exactly who the #1 driver is at RBR…
Not bad for a number 2 mate. Keep it up.
Hi Mark
Remember your roots. You are from Queanbeyan – aka “Struggletown”. Please continue to struggle hard this year – all the way to the F1 Championship that we believe you are worthy of. Stick it to that pesky young team-mate of yours!
Simply amazing Mark! You are a great role model for anyone who has had a coach incorrectly put a less talented team-mate above them! We love the honesty too, keep it up.
Mark,
Well Done!!!! ![]()
Great news to wake up to this morning!
Kayla
great drive
Well done Mark, a victory over your own team as well as your competitors!!!!
Just remember, you have the best car, best to be “2nd” driver and beat the pants off you “team mate” than running around in the lower positions. Chin up and keep fighting, we all know who our number one driver is!!!
Congatulations on that dominant Silverston win.
You little beauty. How sweet it was to watch after the qualifying controversy. There is no other way to describe what happened in the “Wing-gate” affair other than “Favoritism”.
Being an ex-prison officer I was taught to read “body language” and from that I can say that your so called “teammate” has never had any respect for you at all. EVER. He is completely full of himself. Being a New South Welshman, myself I like the term….”He’s 4 foot tall and 6 foot up himself”.It fits SV perfectly.
Monaco AND Silverston….EXCELLENT. The 2 main GP’s and you’ve got em both.
WELL DONE MARK.
My wife and I will be at Singapore waving a big Aussie Flag at Turn 1. Give us a wave when you whoooosh past…LOL.
Cheers,
Rob

Congratulations on winning Silverstone and maintaining your integrity in what must have been a very trying situation! Red Bull are lucky they have a sportsperson who enhances their brands image of success, sportsmanship and competition. I hope for all your team’s sakes that everyone at RBR realises the damage that is happening to the Red Bull brand as a consequence of recent events and settle down to competing for the Drivers and Constructors Championship the way they should. You have shown outstanding strength of character over the past weeks and fully deserve all your success.
GO MARK!!!!!!!!!!
You can win the World championship!!!!!!!!
Dont stop your dreams!!!!
I got up at 10:00pm made a cup of tea and watched what I saw as your most aggresive and brilliant race this year. You deserved to win, it was your race and it makes me believe that if you really want something bad enough you will get it. What s great race to watch, thanks for a brillant performance, you certainly made it the highlight of my weekend!
Great Win Mark!! We sat up here in Australia to watch as were bitterly disappointed with the telecast – you were hardly shown at all, 2 glimpses in last 12 laps and they lamost missed you crossing the line! My husband and I were furious with the coverage – or lack of- but thrilled for you! looking forward to our next string of late nights for thenext race!
Mark is a legend! I wonder how he would be viewed as a driver if he had a competitive car 10 years ago?
I am so glad that he stuck it to “Little Schumi”. That petulant little so and so has no spine if he thinks it’s ok to take parts of a team mate. Well in Germany he had better take Mark’s engine or the result will be the same……Go Mark!
Spectacular race Mark! congrats from everyone back home! Show us more of that aussie grit! LEGEND!
Great stuff MW… now do it in Germany and make it even sweeter…
Good onya Mark!If actions speak louder than words than what you did last night (yesterday)was deafening.Give em shit mate!
GO MARK! Take the WDC which is rightfully yours. Do us all proud and win the F1 championship. It will be the greatest sporting moment ever!
You are an absolute legend Mark and you go on and win this championship for us Aussies all around the world. YOU DESERVE IT!
Awesome effort. You are a true champion. Despite being the number 2 driver
Take into account what happened to the man two weeks ago – this is what it means to be an Aussie Battler. A stunning victory. Keep at it Mark!
Congratulations on another sensational win Mark. You are doing all us Aussies proud mate.
congrats Mark,
I yelled with pleasure adn delight when “the man above” helped you escape another ramming and beat everyone to the first corner, what a fantastic moment! You have the head, talent and crew to continue to win, just use the same energey you used at Silverstone…
It was great to see stick it to Vettel.
One race at time, at the year could be yours.
Great to see a Aussie wining the British GP, Next on to the win in Germany and then Championship. Mark true professional and brilliant driver, i’m hoping this is the year your hard work is truly rewarded.
congratulations mark on the win stick it to em show them what a boy from struggle town can do
As the saying goes, “Don’t get mad, get even” and you did, even better than your team-mate
Wow, what a comeback! From a fortnight ago to this, it could not be more black and white. Any chance of getting some “Not bad for a number 2 driver” t-shirts happening?
Best of luck in Germany, I will be supporting you as always.
Woohoo! Awesome start Mark! Last race I was speechless as you crashed. This race, I was struggling not to wake my sleeping household as I cheered you on. Congrats on such a meaningful victory!
Well done Webbo – bloody brilliant result and fitting 2 finger salute to the brat in the garage next to yours!!
Good on ya Mark. Congratulations on your latest win. You legend!! Stick it up emm.
Well done Mark! I thought Vettel was going to do to you what he did before – and run you off the track on the start. And well said after the race. Do these guys that manage Red Bull have any idea what the fans are thinking of them? Keep doin’ what you do best and show them on the track! As I said before – I think they have backed the wrong horse in Vettel.
F1 World Champ 2010.
You will do it! You make it look so EASY! Australia is behind you all the way! KB
Congratulations Mark. What a response to the questionable goings-on over the weekend. I think everyone saw on the podium just how much that win meant to you. After the crash in Valencia, let’s see you push on and win the championship now
Good one, Mark. Stick it up ,em
Keep up the good work Champ. Keep rolling with the punches, and do the smart thing. Remember the RB6 is still the strongest car out there, upgrade or not. Keep doing what your doing, and keep your options open!!
Well done on another fab victory! Roll on the next!
Well done on another fab victory! Roll on the next!
Why isn’t Mark on cans of R.B. in Australia? I want to buy some, you bloody Legend! Keep up the great effort!
Well done darlin – absolutely awesome win!! So thrilled you got him on the first corner & just romped away setting fastest lap times.
Was at Luffield cheering you on wearing my No.6 Webber t shirt in a sea of Lewis/Jenson fans (ha! – we taught them who’s boss didn’t we)
Absolutely fantastic – it definitely made up for the qualifying debacle. What the hell were the team thinking of? Anyway, again, I’m so made up for you that you’ve got another win under your belt, especially this one. Even better with your family there to see you win – bet your Dad’s one very proud Pop. Bet that champagne tasted good too.
Not that you needed to, but once again you’ve proved that you’re a No.1 driver, none of this No.2 malarky. Just keep on doing what you do best & we’ll keep on cheering you on. Good on ya. Well deserved win. Best of luck for next race. x
I forgot to mention. Check out this page if you haven’t already: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2010/07/red_bull_tensions_reach_new_hi.html I think you have more supporters abroad than you do at home!! I have always wondered if my thoughts on the red bull managing policies were biased due to my Australian heritage. Apparently not!!
Hi Mark, l was so happy after the 1st corner of lap 1 even though Lewis was all over the back of you. lm sure you were smiling to after the adrenilin wore off and you were in the zone. After a few laps you couldn’t wipe the smile of my face, when you started to pull a few seconds on him and l could just see the determination in your driving after fastest lap after, fastest lap and knew you were untouchable unless the car let you down. l loved it when you got so close to Vettel you were nearly gonna put a lap on him, even though you had to stop for tyres. Then the safety car was deployed, and the rest is history as they say. So rapt for you mate that you won at your home track away from Australia. Like l said, im still smiling and l hope you are to. Great drive after all that happened and you showed your poise even though he tried to put you in the wall at the start. Well done Champ and l can’t wait till next GP. Keep it up Mark, and im sure there is more to come. From Abs. Your No 1 Fan.
Well done! Congratulations. The best way to address an injustice is demonstrate superiority and that’s what you did. Wingeing and moaning about a situation gets everybody down, but actions are far better than words and that’s what you did this weekend. Well done and good luck for the rest of the season.
Well done Mark! Great drive yesterday, and I believe justice was done. Keep it up mate!
“Not bad for the number 2 driver” Absolutely priceless!!!
Keep up the great work Mark.
Well done MW, you conducted yourself perfectly and were a joy to watch yesterday – I liked the jouno’s comment that: Reb Bull gives you wings but can also take them away – except gladly it made no difference!
keep up the good work mark best wishes from another aussie
Your victory brought me to tears. You are a champion no matter what the points at the end of the season.
Fantastic! You showed ‘em. You are the fans no.1 driver. No doubts. Keep up the good work. Love ya!
WELL DONE MARK ,REDBULL REALLY NEED TO ASK THEMSELVES WHO IS THE BEST CHANCE FOR THE TITLE ,YOUNG HOT HEADED GERMAN ,OR COOL CLINICAL AUSSIE ,WITH GRIT AND DETERMINATION TO GET THE JOB DONE.WELL DONE MARK ,IM STILL BUZZING .GO GET EM ,YOU CAN DO IT .
What a sweeeeeeeet victory!
hi Mark,
i just wanted to say that it is a pleasure to watch you driving. you ARE racing, man!!! go and get that title!!
Great victory Mark, totally deserved. There is a negative vibe looming with this fraction in the team though. Its not good. Even though you have every right to heavily react to this treatment, winning races is the only way to combat this. give them no level to engage on such thoughts. I was worried your intense anger was going to distract you, but you certainly delivered the goods. Well done mate and bring on Hocky, and make it number 4
For all the folks who would like to express in a decent way our dissatisfaction about the way Mark is treated, I have set up a group on Facebook in that respect:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=137401822944501&v=wall&ref=ts
That was a sweet victory – worry about everything else tomorrow and savour today. Well done x
Mark, Keep going mate! I am sure there will be many more F1 fans like me who desperately want to see you be World Champion this year. Whilst as a Brit I normally follow Lewis and Jenson having seen how you have conducted yourself despite the dreadful treatment you receive from Red Bull management I am changing my allegiances to will you to the championship.
Thanks a lot Mark, I was on such a high after the start and then through the race that I stayed up and watched Cadel’s great ride in Le Tour. Now I’ll be tired all bloody week!
Great race under the circumstances. You are a champion on the track and especially off the track.
If possible, I would consider leaving Red Bull after this season. You deserve better.
Yet another display of brilliance in the face of adversity. Mark’s talent, relentless perseverance and unequalled professionalism are qualities that radiate from him. He is a true role model. Superb work Mark, congratulations.
‘re the best, that’s most impressive output and Vetel [site manager edit]!
do not understand why the team is treating you well, I’m outraged, you deserve to be the champion, prove your worth
I do not know why, my first comment is not seen. All the way from Romania I set up Facebook group for all the folks who think Mark is not treated right at RBR. The point is to make us heard in a decent way. Mark, I hope you will win WDC this year!
Hey Mark, mate well done on such a commanding and timely win…simply brilliant! Shut out all the other crap and keep going, we are all behind you the whole way! go get em Aussie !
congratulations on a win that was cheered all over the world with a gusto that matched that which the silverstone crowd gave your race leading start. punching the air for you.
Brilliant win, despite the antics of the “management” and the ‘Yoof’. Odd that some of the media made adverse comments on your very honest and direct remarks. Perhaps they are more used to the snide innuendo of less honest people.
Good luck for the championship.
How i enjoyed the race yesterday. You gave the perfect answer to your team, first on track, then on radio. Go on and win in front of my home door down here! Gratulations, Mark, best number two driver in Formula 1
Well done son! you deserved every bit of the biter sweet victory @ silverstone. it sucks nuts what red bull are putting you through but keep sticking it to them. im behind you 100% and cant wait for germany so i can see you do it all again
You are just a 2nd driver… get used to it! Even if you are currently in front of Vettel… you may “miraculously” drop behind in the next race…
Just can’t stand the way you’re treated!
Anyway, Congrats and will be rooting for you (at least over 1st team driver)!
Win the Championship and go somewhere else next season!
Fantastic drive at Silverstone, Mark, totally impressed by how you responded to events over the weekend- such that I felt the need to leave a comment for you. For me it was a great race, with battles all over the field. You had a fantastic start and almost a fantastic battle with Lewis – with him doing his best to keep up with you, as you both put in fastest lap after fastest lap.
Vettel is continuing to show his true colours and his desperation, perhaps. As the “saga” grows he is losing more and more support from certain quarters, and like many others I’m (almost) ashamed to admit I was happy when he went to the back of the field. There was a drama unfolding in the race, before the safety car came out – you were closing in on him, to lap him. I really wonder how he would have reacted to that, and would he have let you pass (easily)???
You are now getting the support of many Brits, in the interests of fair play, like myself, who feel you are worthy of the WDC –
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2010/07/red_bull_tensions_reach_new_hi.html
Keep it up mate!
Congratulations Mark – brilliant drive and the perfect answer to all the shenanigans of Sat. Was sitting down at Stowe, thanks for coming over on the slow-down lap, really appreciated that
So so proud you did incredible ! You are number one driver to me xxxxx Congratulations and keep clocking up those points . Lots of love and best wishes , Lucy , Stockport .
Mark ..
As a Brit and supporter of Button and Hamilton .. All I can say is awesome drive, surely made even sweeter by all the RBR team nonsense.
Don’t let them get you down, and make sure you continue to fight them all the way. More drives like that and you’ll beat not just your undeserving team mate, but perhaps even the McLarens too ! ![]()
Good luck with the team !
Awesome job Mark. There was certainly a big cheer here when the pole man went off with a puncture.
Eddie Jordan was quite right when he mentioned Christian Horner sounded less than euphoric about your win.
Maybe you can get a Mercedes drive next year, their No.2 driver needs replacing with a an Aussie
Great driving and a top performance for the weekend in all departments from you Mark. It was the best win I have witnessed in F1 as a fan and it sure showed how to let the driving do the talking.
Mark, you done a great job!
Hey Mark! Your driving is superb this year. Silverstone race was fantastic. Your comments are priceless! I love them. Our USA tv coverage (on FOX) didn’t show the post race interviews! I really wanted to see & hear that! All the best for the remainder of the season! You’re doing great!
What a guy! Three wins, one near death experiece and then having to play sidekick – quite a ride Mark. I know you can win the championship this year…well, provided you are treated with the respect a winner deserves.
Well done Mark, you used second best equipment and produced the best result!! Not bad for a number 2 driver …
Fantastic win Mark.
You showed that you don’t need Red Bull wings to fly. They will have to change their slogan.
Fantastic win Mark! It’s a shame the shenanigans at Red Bull are making more news than your seamless (it looked that to us in tv-land) win. You are a joy to watch but please, no more aerobatics – my heart can’t take it.
Good luck in Germany and have a great drive. My Aussie heart beats with pride for you.
will sib now want his old car back????
Great race, old bull and the young bull, the old bull was the master again, well done Mark.
…stronger than unjustices (of every kind…). Like a tale. Like a happy ending tale. So it must be. KEEP IT ON SUCH A WAY, Mark!
Was great seeing you win at Silverstone…thrilled for you Mark…and you have my full support. Kindest Wiki
So to recap, Silverstone you manage to win without the new wing and in Luscious Liz a car that Vetel said didnt feel right. Heres to Red Bulls real No1 driver. Well done Mark. Regards Martin & Katie
well done ‘mate’ you don’t need wings. your already a flyer. hope both christian and seb grovel like bloody hell to make up for their very bad behavior.redbull are a great team with you in it.
Awesome Mark! The team has indicated that you are a “Team Player” yet their actions are far from the truth.
Forget the Team. Take this championship by the neck. If you have to bump the impetuous pup off do it. The title is yours to win The Team can’t sack you. Perfect Scenario..You take the Drivers Championship and McLaren the Constructors!
Now go and wipe Hockenheim with the [site manager edit]. He got my back up when he called you poker face and his gestures after Turkey show his true character.
Knock em dead mate you’re a mighty fine Australian
great drive Mark what a kick in the nuts to Vettel do it again mate will be following you all the way
I’m happy about your moment with your parents by your side Mark.
You made perfect the Sunday for lot of people. Thanks a lot!
Mark,
After just returning and graduating from university at age 52 I have an appreciation for dealing with youngsters.
Experience is the most important factor. I favor you in the F1 WDC.
I place your character on a par with Sir Frank Williams. A1!
Do your best Mark, that’s all others can expect, most importantly it’s all you can expect of yourself.
SO:
Know Thyself
&
Nothing In Excess (except GP wins)
From struggletown eh, me too, figuratively.
Go get em’ Mark.
2010 F1 WDC!
Kelly Haines
‘Roos do fly..MW proved yet again he is F1 #1
Only an Aussie could come out with a line like that.
Absolutely Awesome.
You might be their number 2 but you will always be our number 1 mate.
Keep serving it up to em.
Every thing I read tells me its not just us Aussies back home that support & believe in you Mark, but so many around the whole World do as well.
Win or lose Mark you are a Champion Sportsman.
Well Done.
Steve
Townsville
Australia
Of course as a Brit I support Hamilton and Button, but if for any reason either of them fail Mark I want you to get the Championship,
I think your radio comment “not bad for number 2 Driver was class act, you sent trucks of salt to open wounds in RBR.
I wish you the best on finishing ahead of S. Vettel .. the golden boy in RBR,
Remember Turkey .. if you cant pass him well as his management told him that day there’s nothing wrong in giving it a bash .. **hint **
Full creds to you and Australia as a nation backing you,
Nothing but total respect for how you drove and won at Silverstone, you are a champion in the waiting.
Brilliant, just brilliant. Not only a dominant performance but with Seb’s old chassis and an outdated nose.
It would seem that you have a real fight on your hands, not only with your competitors but also with your team management. Just as well your race engineers are solidly behind you.
Good fortune for the remainder of the season.
I’ve never been so worked up at the start of a race before. You nailed that start and then drove a perfect race, a pure joy to watch!
Mark what can I say – absolutely brilliant drive. I have to say after other starts from the dirty side of the grid this year I was worried about how this would unfold!! You are a champion in your own right mate and have the support of a lot of people – give it your all each and every race, hold your head high and the rest will take care of itself. You do us proud mate!!
Again, whilst a McLaren fan I was all for your victory and dignified reaction to the ‘wing’ debacle. I will be rooting for you and hope you ‘stick it up him’. He might make a good driver one day if he grows up! Love that 4 foot and six foot bit!
Nice win. Thought the TV coverage was pretty average. Didn’t get to see enough of MW during the race. What is it with these broadcasters/commentators? If they’re not talking about a Pom or two, they’re showing us a once-retired world champion in 14th place! I felt somewhat grateful when they cut back to MW crossing the finish line.
Stunning Race well done glad to see you smile and loved your post race quip to Horner who incidently did not celebrate in the same style as he does with the other bloke. It would be an excellent repeat IN GOD FORBID Germany best of luck for that race as well
Great drive Mark. I’ve been following F1 since 15yrs old in UK. Now approaching 60 in Canada. Fully support you. You are the best on the grid both in ability and personality. Great to see the honourable way you handle it all. Go for the championship…you deserve it
All the best!
Awsome drive, again! Congratulations. I will remember turn one forever!
Awesome win Mark! What a way to “stick it to em”! You are a true Aussie! Bring on Hockenheim….
your win at Silverstone and Cadel in yellow! doesn’t get much better. Keep up the good work!
Aussie’s eat sour krouts for breakfast mate!!!! Go for gold and take that world championship by the throat!! Lets just hope the team cut the BS and support you all the way
Please refrain from ruining Red Bull’s chances of winning the championship. We all know that Sebastian is the only Red Bull driver capable of winning the championship, so please don’t run him off the track, stand back and be the brilliant no.2 that we all know you are.
Well done Mark. You really deserved that win. You have worked so hard for so many years, and deserve the recognition. One day the little person in the other car will grow up and show some respect, but until that happens you will have to keep your back to the wall so it does not get any more knives in it. Australia is bhind you all the way, and you have won a legion of new fans from around the world because of your cool handling of a sour situation. Again, well done!
G’day Mark
Awesome over in Silverstone mate, keep up the good work & I’m sure you’ll make a very worthy world champion in 2010 buddy.
Jake Buxton,NSW
well done!you are outstanding mark! good luck!
Hello Mark,
Congratulations! I am from germany but you are my favorite driver. I hope you win the Championship, but i think its a hard way.
Awesome race Mark. I don’t know how Red Bull can hold their heads up in the pits amongst the other teams. To have drivers from rival teams offering you their front wing is pretty sad. The only thing that disappointed me about the race is that Vettel didn’t stay in last place till the end! Keep up the good work Mark. Let them [site manager edit] in their own nest. I won’t be drinking Red Bull ever again and am encouraging everyone to do the same.
Mark,Fantastic race and result,Well done mate.True Aussie Grit.
Stay focused and the championship is yours.
Well done Mark! Great win at the weekend. You don’t need that wing. You’re far better than Seb. Keep up the good work and good luck for hockenheim!
Congratulations Mark and I am behind you AND Sebastian, personally i don’t think the choice to give Seb the front wing was favouritism I think the reaction of the public is definitel favouritism towards you. The front wing had to go to one of you and the logical choice was made. I don’t think that people would be reacting the same way if only you had been given the front wing – favouritism. P.S. I love you, your great!
(site manager edit) mark i hate racecars but because your a aussie i love watchings f1 go the aussie but wish they could start earlier
Congrats Mark. You are the consumate professional. No doubt if it had been Vettel winning he would have made some smartarse comment but it was great to see you acknowledge your team in the press conference. Keep up the good work and even if you don’t win the WC you are still a bloody legend.
Such domination!
You’re doing Australia proud as the WORLD’S #1 driver.
Congratulations
I’m an Aussie living in Berkshire with my 3 yr old daughter and Pommie husband – my daughter stands up in the bath with her hands on her hip proclaiming ‘I’m Mark Webber – where’s my trophy?’ We get chills everytime we hear the anthem playing for you – keep it up!
the great aussie way keep up the aggression i believe seb is only a front runner wont be able to keep absorbing the pressure you can apply just need to get a bit of a points gap and it could be your year get em mate
Mark <3
Mate, the way you are handling this unfortunate situation within your team is making you an extremely, professional, likeable and determined character. F1 is privileged to have a racer like you. KEEP GOING AND GET THAT CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! All those $%%&^ Aussie F1 critics down here are certainly looking at you now!!!
Hope to see you in Hobart again
Mate,
I have been enthralled watching your career and from mid last year to this year I believe you are ahead on all levels. I really believe you inspire people on so many levels. In my humbled opinion I believe that in the face of adversity you showed the world true moral courage. I watch you race because I believe you embody true world champion qualities both in your driving ability and personal qualities. I most certainly will be saying to my 4 yo son, there is a sportsman that is a role model you can believe, trust and follow.
Congrats on an amazing win and an incredible racing season.
Cheers
Brad
Always go for it and never let anybody push you into the role of second pilot. You’r the nr 1 candidate to the world title. And since everybody needs a little bit of luck, I wish you all the luck in the world.
Legend. An aussie winning at Silverstone as good as winning the ashes at Lords. Stay focused, aggressive and fast. You have crushed Vettel pschologically and done enough on the track to prove you are faster & more mature. Far more capable of winning the World Championship than Vettel. We know that, you know that, Christian Horner needs to wake up & realise that as well.
Mark, kindly accept our gratitude and endless respect for the Silverstone weekend! Regardless of what happened, your courage and passion prevailed.
Thanks for talking frankly to us, the funs.
All the best to win the championship.
Congrats to you Mark, you drove a brilliant race, perfect start, awesome first corner… and smashed em for 6 with the “2nd driver” comment. You’re a bloody champion, and we wish you all the best from all of us down under.
Mark, I don’t know whether it’s the team who are not confident in Seb’s ability to win, or he (or his manager) is pushing because it’ll sell more hats, but Vettel obviously needs a crutch to help him along and that means he’s scared and on the run. Stay cool and be convinced in your talent, that’s worth more than a few tenths.
Great race Mark! Congratulations to you, on a well-deserved victory. You continue to prove you have all the class in the world. I hope you continue to thrive despite all the garbage that the team seems to throw your way. Just keep on showing them who the real #1 is!
Improbable race… I did not cease to applaud. Mark, I really admire of your talent and strong character. Congratulations! I am looking forward to Hokkenheim! You are the best!!!
Congratulations to you Mark. Brilliant race from you.
I just screamed when you came out in the lead in the first corner.
I was was so happy for you when you won.
Monaco and Silverstone…it must feel really good and especially after how you were treated this weekend.
“Not bad for a no 2 driver”…I really liked that comment and it felt so good when you said that.
The Swedish commentators laughed and said: Webber really has got some humour.
Hockenheim next and looking forward to the 4th win this season.
Well deserved win, Mark! Amazing drive.
I have high hopes for you to win the championship this year! ![]()
Congratulations.
After the horror crash at Valencia a flawless & brillant drive, congratulations Mark, and thank you.
Well done Mark, Inspiration win!!!!
The gloves are off now, experience and outright speed is a championship winning combo.
We are with you all the way, Best of luck mate…
“Red Bull gives you wings. Then takes them off you and gives them to the other guy.”
PERFECT Kangaroo Valley NSW
The real F1 fans know you have done the hard yards and earned a seat in one of the fastest cars on the grid. From scoring points in OZ in the Minardi to sticking the Jag on the front row.
Horner was right, you are the king of one liners.Keep them coming, it’s great to see real character in F1.
F1 really doesn’t need annoying little twerps as world champions. If you can only manage peach fuzz for 5 o clock shadow your not worthy.
Best of luck for the championship. The TAB is looking after my investment until you make it mature!
Great drive and great composure. Your in the Zone!! keep up the great driving. World Champ this year!!
Congratulation Mark from Poland!
Your win was awesome.
Win know who is number 1!!! Don’t worry the german always will cry!
Keep sticking it up them, all of them .let them look after the spoilt little golden boy.your no stanger to doing it the hard way.just keep doing what your doing.
P.S.I really liked your geasture when you stood on the car at the end of the race, get that up ya………yeah baby..
Well deserved win – a pleasure to watch you from one of the many stands at Silverstone. Very diplomatic answers to some very pointed questions from the press as well. If we can’t have a British champion, an Aussie would be almost as good! Good luck for the rest of the season.
Great drive Mark. Wish you all the best in Hockenheim – it will be even sweeter than Silverstone!
Spoken like a true Webber!
You are making us all proud!
Gratulacje Mark. Mistrzostwo Świata należy do Ciebie w tym roku ; ) Dalszych sukcesów.
Daniel – Poland
Congratulations on a well deserved win in Silverton. In our eyes you are the number 1 driver for Red Bull. What we love the most is your honesty and the way you ALWAYS speak about “we”. Go Mark!
AWESOME!!! I wanted to write to you for ages, encourage you when you had amazing strings of bad luck and applaud you on your achievements, hoping you were ok after last round but nothing compares to this. Best drive i’ve ever seen and i’ve been watching a long time. I don’t believe there is a man on earth who could beat you, it was as if your mind was already made up, losing was not an option. If christian is favouring seb that was his worst decision. Mark Webber with some c#$% in him is unbeatable. YOU CAN WIN THIS MATE!
Yooo Mate
I have worked it out ..
Austrian team, German driver and you i was wondering about this combination until I realised that they have misread your CV and nationality Austr(al)ia .. and they became a bit upset that they let an outsider into the Übermens club. Not bad from a guy from downunder. Keep those peckers up, done a great job!
Not bad for a no. 2 driver and not bad for someone using a ‘damaged’ chassis that vettel couldn’t drive. Roy and HG can go f.. k themselves. Great start and brilliant first lap after the SC. keep doing what you’re doing.
Congrats mate! As a Brit I wouldn’t normally say this but it was great to see you win on Sunday. True Aussie grit I guess…I hope it gives them something to think about – we were all shocked by their actions and wish you the best of luck for the rest of the season. You deserve it.
WEll done Mark, People don’t always remeber Vettel ruining your Japanese GP chance a few years ago when he ran into the back of your car whilst under safety car. Your were in second and Hamilton was in a failing car. That would have been your first win i am sure of it. Now with this hot head he is still behind you and bashing you from behind. Don’t let him. Show him true grit and determination and win this dam thing. You are a team player and always thank the team. They are the first ones there and the last ones to leave and clean up. Your acknowledgement of them is the signs of a true champion. Your team needs to acknowledge that as the worls does. Go for it!!!!
Well done Mark, the so called RBR “Team” have shown their true colours. You will win the Championship because you have worked hard for it for a long time, keep up the fighting spirit we are all behind you.
Hey just to say it seems by the dignified way you handled yourself in the after race interview your better on and off the track, regardless of anything else, guess the best man one despite any favoritism. Your a credit to the sport, Good luck to you.
Go Champ were proud of you
Shitcan your own team Mark and its the beginning of end!!!!!!!!!
Ring a ding ding… Who stole my wing. Mark when all is said and done i hope you write a book. Think it would be quiet a read. Well done Silverstone was great i dont even think i blinked. Top viewing
You’re the greatest driver in Folmula 1. I’m rooting for you every race.
You have provided me with the underdog fight i was so looking for. I want you to win and beat Seb V. That’s what made Lewis’ first year so interesting for me. Lewis v Jenson is boring! And you’re Aussie – distant cousin as far as i am concerned. WHO IS BRITAIN SUPPORTING THIS YEAR?
Mark Webber is the Team Principal of MW Arden, a three car team in the new GP3 series supporting European Grands Prix.
just a suggestion that I hope you can forward to the FIA peoples and Mark :
team orders are forbiden by the regulations, as it damage the reputation and image of Formula 1, and affect the results which is illegal as some companies make possible to bet money on race results.
Cannibalising parts of one car to give it to the other car like Red Bull did in England saturday is the equivalent of team order, as it favour a driver and penalise the other. So it should be forbiden by the FIA as well as team orders were forbiden a few years ago.
Please forward my support to Mark Webber who is my favourite driver. If I was him I would quit Red Bull…
