A man of focus: The only place to go for all of Mark’s On the Track News from the world of Formula One...

Mark’s Preview – Brazil, Crunch Time

POSTED ON November 04th, 2010

“It’s crunch time: we have two races in the space of eight days, at the end of which we’ll know the identity of the 2010 world champion. It doesn’t get bigger than this and I feel 110 percent ready for the fight.

“Having led the world championship for several races, I go to Brazil second in the points’ standings after a rough weekend in Korea. Fernando Alonso leads the championship by 11 points, but there are 50 still on the table so there’s everything to play for. I’m not going to change my approach; I’m going to do my best and let the maths take care of itself.

“Interlagos is a fantastic venue for Formula One. It has a lot of history and in many ways it reminds me of Brands Hatch. It’s built on the edge of a hill, so the crowd looks down on the action and there’s always a good atmosphere. The Brazilian fans love Formula One and they make a lot of noise, although the intensity of their support has dropped off a bit in recent years.

“I’ve never been outqualified by a team-mate at Interlagos, although I hadn’t had much luck at the track until last year when I won the race. The track is defined by the long uphill drag towards the start-finish line, where engine power is important. But a twisty infield makes it an interesting aerodynamic compromise between straight-line speed and slow-corner grip.

“I’m confident that the RB6 will be competitive, although you’re always a bit nervous about your pace during the build-up to an event. The car has been quick everywhere this year and I see no reason why it should be any different here, but we’ll have to wait until the on-track action starts to know for sure.

“More than anything, I need a clean weekend here. The weather forecast looks a bit iffy on Saturday, but it’lI be the same for everyone. I can think of no better time to take another victory than now; you can be sure that I’ll do everything in my power to achieve that.”

Dear Mark,
please forget the world’s noises.
Like a golf player at the last hole with the opponent one up: the public, the tv, the birds on the trees, disturbing thoughts, unloving people, the past, the future, everything disappears; it is just him against the golf course.
Go and get a magnificent result, in bocca al lupo!

truest fan POSTED November 05th, 2010

although we all know it to be true, RBR of course would prefer their new shining light to be victor 2010. As much sense that it is for your team to back you for the champ, the glory will be much stronger when you finish in front of Vettel by your ability alone. Dont try too hard man, I reckon deep down inside Vettel is feeling alot of pressure, take a calm approach and take this vistory, good luck mate

Rob Whight POSTED November 05th, 2010

FreddieWeb POSTED November 04th, 2010

I really wish you good luck this weekend. You know I cross my fingers for you as always, and my heart beat can be even harder than usual. Almost 2 years ago, you were on a hospital bed and many people do not give much about your skin, there was less support at the time, only the friends and fans of the first hour still believed in you … the greatest part you one discovered this year, completely surprised, yet you have not changed. Remember you, never give up an Aussie, then beat you, gonna get your dreams, you worked so hard for it, made so many sacrifices,
become again the hunter you like to be, I want to see this flame, this aggressiveness that you had on the evening of Silverstone, it’s your instinct, it is inside you, be yourself, remember you where you come from, what you experienced, both good and bad times, and make you happy, you have nothing to lose, you’ve already won everything!

Lili POSTED November 04th, 2010

All the best for you Mark, you can do it!!

jose arellano POSTED November 04th, 2010

Agnieszka POSTED November 04th, 2010
