Malaysian Grand Prix – Mark’s Preview

POSTED ON March 31st, 2010

“After the disappointment of Melbourne, the Malaysian Grand Prix can’t come soon enough. We proved at Albert Park that the RB6 has great potential, but we didn’t get the results that the car or the team deserved. We want to put that right this weekend.

“I really like Sepang. Its mix of high, medium and slow-speed corners should suit the RB6 and I expect us to be competitive. We might be left a bit out of breath along the circuit’s three long straights, but the car’s excellent aero should make up for that through the corners.

“As was the case last weekend, we’ll be watching the weather at Sepang. April is the wettest month of the year in Kuala Lumpur, so we’re likely to get some wet running at some point. Following last year’s washout, the organisers have brought the race’s start time forward by an hour, to 4pm, and we’ll have to hope that that’s enough to let the race run its course.

“The cars aren’t as physical to drive as they used to be, but that doesn’t make them any cooler and it’s going to be bloody hot and sweaty at Sepang. I’ll produce about four litres of sweat during the race because there’s no means of cooling down when you’re in the car; even the air you breathe is hot!

“But if you’re quick, you don’t even think about the physical discomfort until after the chequered flag has fallen. Let’s hope we have a good weekend. ”

Well done Mark! Just a matter of time before you put a few wins together. It’s a petty about the start but you kept your head. To me this shows a strengh of charactor that makes someone a champion. Consistency will win this year. Keep positive and good luck.

Kevin

Well done Mark, was a good race with just a bit of bad luck at the start. Fab to see you on the podium as you really deserve it. best wishes for the next race.

Hey Mark – I know you’ll win in Sepang, good luck and get the vibes you had in Germany 09 when you won despite a drive-thru penalty.

But please, don’t celebrate with a mad “yes, yes, yes, yes” ;-)

Chhers!

Hi Mark. It’s great to see u doing well in F1. I can rememebr you at the Canberra kart track as Iused to race karts at the same time. I would like to make a comment about the teams strategy decisions. Last week the only choice I could see was that u had to come in before Seb. If this meant a lap earlier than Seb than so be it, it was your only option for the race. Hope things improve this weekend in Malaysia, but as we all know its a long season and if you can get 4 wins this year plus good points you will be up there.

Mark,
Thanks for a great drive in Melbourne. Pity it didn’t go the way you (or any of us) wanted.
All the best for Sepang.
Cheers,
Mike,

Mark, I still remember the incredible atmosphere trackside at the 2002 AGP and I’ve been there every year since. Thought this year was your best chance, feel for ya mate but your the main reason I still follow F1, so whip em in Malaysia!

Pete POSTED April 01st, 2010

Mark!!! you said after the australian gp that you hoped you guys gave us a good show at home. You sure did! I just saw the interview you did with ted kravitz as well. It was a crazy weekend and lewis was angry about alot of things. Personaly i want to see drivers going for it and coming together than accepting anything but first place. just thank you so much for melbourne. You guys put the passion back into F1. I hope you have a good race in malaysia to make up for it.

P.s i bet many ozi girls would kill for that sweat. ;)

Freddie POSTED April 01st, 2010

Falling in battle is never a disgrace! Make yourself happy and avoid being too close to Lewis. Just kidding, of course, good luck for the WE and watch out for you. (sorry for my English, in France we are good at many things but not for language)

Keith Owen POSTED April 01st, 2010

Hi Mark,

Gotta say, I loved the race in Melbourne. How exciting. Normally I’d be absolutely crushed at you crashing, but I’m not a bit upset at all. Good racing is worth a couple of shunts. Looking forward to the Monsoon.

Good luck,

Keith Owen

4 litres?!!! That’s a lot! I bet it’s quite a torturous experience. Anyway, good luck on the slippery slopes of Sepang. Stay safe.
