UPDATE ON MARK’S CONDITION

Mark spent the night in a local hospital in São Paulo where he underwent further checks. He sustained bruising and concussion in the accident he suffered in Sunday’s six-hour race.

“I’m quite sore this morning and am pretty bruised and have got a stinking headache,” Mark said earlier today.
“I’ve got no recollection of the accident or how it happened – the team is looking into the details to find out more.

“Thanks to the medical team at the track and here at the hospital who did a great job and are looking after me very well.  On a positive note it’s great that the boys in car no. 14 managed to bring home the victory which is a fantastic way to finish off the season. I’m already looking forward to getting out there again next year.”

Mark is still under care at the hospital but is set to return to the UK later this week.

Trust you can put your feet up & enjoy a good rest over the festive season with those you love.

Ever thought of joining Martin Brundle & the Sky Sport Team as an F1 interviewer/commentator? It would make many of your fans very happy here in the UK – plus its a tad safer – just a thought 🙂

    Hello Mark,
On a positive note , congratulations for achieving pole position in the last race of the season , and for your Porsche team winning the race.
I am sure you will reflect on your ‘DNF’ in a professional ‘matter of fact’ way as an occupational hazard of being a professional racing driver, and will be positively looking forward to the next racing season.

    Hallo Mark

Glad you’re doing better, I was there at Le Mans in 1999 when you flew with the CLR , I saw your looping in 2010 with the Red Bull F1 and saw this crash live on Eurosport. I AM a big Porsche fan but maybe it is better to quit racing now and become a Porsche ambassador…there is only one life mate.

Mark, glad to hear you are doing OK after that huge crash. God bless the car designers that engineered the chassis and driver’s compartment to allow you to basically “walk away” from such a huge energy transfer.

I’ve been a huge fan of yours since ’99 when you tried to “fly” your Le Mans car!
