ON THE SIDELINES #MadeMyMark

I didn’t drive a race car of any description after Le Mans. I used to go and train in the Jordan Grand Prix gym in the hope that I might bump into someone/anyone.

Trevor Foster, the then team managing director told me that Riccardo Zonta (who had been a Mercedes team-mate in ’98) was on his way to winning the F3000 title was the up-coming man which of course only made me all the more ambitious! Eddie Jordan was more positive and introduced me to Paul Stoddart.

Followed your career from that Formula Ford race back in 1995 at Sandown in the wet, where you just blitzed the field and won by what seemed like half a lap. Its been great watching you progress from there to the champion you have become. Thanks for flying the Australian flag for us back home. Have a great final grand prix and all the best for yur new ride at Porsche.
