Infiniti Red Bull Racing wins the 2013 Formula One Constructors’ Championship

Sebastian Vettel wins the 2013 Formula One Drivers’ Championship

Car 1 SEBASTIAN VETTEL, Finish Position: WINNER, Start Position: 1st
“First of all I would love to say thank you to the crowds, it was an unbelievable reception today and it’s a shame we are not racing here next year. I’m speechless. I crossed the line and I was empty. I took ages to think about something to say. It’s one of these moments where you want to say so many things but you can’t. It’s been such a phenomenal season. I think the team and the spirit inside the team is so strong; I said it on the radio already – it gives me so much power. It’s a pleasure to jump in the car and go out for the guys and girls and try to give it all I have. The car was fantastic today. I didn’t think about the do-nuts before the race today – it just happened. My engineer directed for the usual procedure, but I said ‘not this time!’. There are so many people on the main grandstand here, I just had to do it. I want to say a big thank you to the team to all the people behind us. It was for sure not an easy season and even though people on the outside thought we had it in our hands, I think it was difficult. It a was tough season for me personally, to receive boos even though we haven’t done anything wrong; to overcome that and give the right answer on the track and get acceptance makes me very proud. To join people like Prost, Fangio and Michael is unbelievable. I think this is one of the best days in my life so far. There are so many people that I have to thank; I’ve always tried to listen and learn and it’s incredible to race some of the best drivers in the world.”
Car 2 MARK WEBBER, Finish Position: DNF, Start Position: 4th

“Obviously I’m pretty disappointed with today’s race, but there is not much I can do, the alternator went wrong with very short notice so we had to stop straight away. It’s tough because we did a lot of things right this weekend, but I’ve got a smile on my face as I could not have done any more. Well done to Seb on his Championship and also to all the Team; to get a fourth title is amazing. It’s been a great job by the whole team to achieve the title four years on the trot and it has once again set itself as the benchmark for the others.”
CHRISTIAN HORNER, Team Principal: “To achieve four double World Championships is the culmination of an enormous amount of dedication and commitment from the whole team. For Sebastian to have joined the illustrious names of Fangio, Prost and Schumacher is an incredible achievement, especially at such a young age and it’s a privilege to work with him. It’s an enormous day for the Team to have won its fourth consecutive Constructors’ World Championship. Without the dedication and determination of all the staff from all of the departments throughout the company and from all of our Partners and the backing of Dietrich Mateschitz and support of Red Bull, none of this would be possible.  There’s going to be an awfully lot of happy people in Milton Keynes and Salzburg this evening. We’ve got three races to go and we’re just going to go for it. The most disappointing thing today was obviously the failure on Mark’s car when we were set for a 1-2 finish; we had a sudden alternator failure, but sometimes that’s racing. It was just desperately disappointing to happen while we were on course to achieve a 1-2 finish. I think it’s going to take quite a few days for this success to sink in and it’s important for the Team to enjoy the moment – we will be pushing all the way to the chequered flag in Brazil.”

ADRIAN NEWEY, Chief Technical Officer: “It’s difficult to verbalise what these Championships mean to be honest. Coming into the weekend we knew we had a good chance for both titles, but it’s one thing thinking you have a good chance and quite another to achieve it. It’s almost a relief that we’ve done it, it’s going to take a while to sink in. It’s a tribute to all the hard work, talent and focus of the guys and girls back in Milton Keynes. We started off with a very good season in 2009, against all expectations, and to have built on that with four consecutive doubles is absolutely stunning. More than anything I’d like to thank every single member of the team for that. Sebastian must now be considered one of the all-time greats. He makes mistakes sometimes, but he always learns from them; he’s very humble and the success and fame he has achieved over the last few years has never gone to his head; he remains with both feet firmly on the ground. The atmosphere we have in the team is very good; we’re just a straight forward team and we don’t pretend to be anything we’re not. These four Championships are a result of all the hard work, creativity and enthusiasm of everyone in Milton Keynes. ”
THIERRY SALVI, Renault:  “Seb showed his capacity to be very, very quick yet again and to come back to the front despite a very early pitstop. That was a demonstration. Mark pushed very hard from the beginning and was a serious rival to Seb until his failure. A huge result for the team today, with the quadruple double finally done and dusted! It’s a very proud moment for us to have contributed to these titles and to see the partnership go from strength to strength. It was not a perfect day with the alternator issue for Mark, but it doesn’t have to sour the celebrations for too long.”

Once again, let down by the team, once again denied a podium by the team’s incompetences, once again given inferior equipment, once again not given the slightest thought by Newey, Horner and co. Mark, I am deeply sorry and fed up that you cop the rough end of the pineapple every time out. I wonder how many secondhand bits they can find to stick on your car for Abu Dhabi? RBR sure as hell don’t care if you come second or last or DNF, as evident in the excerpts here above. Yeah sure, you can say hey, that’s racing, but no it should be re phrased as, yeah sure, you can say hey, that’s racing for RB if your name happens to be MW.

I really hope you read some of these comments mate, because you may take solace in the fact that we the people are not stupid unobservant plebs plonked in front of the telly every Sunday to watch you race, we are intelligent, informed observers who can see through RBR propaganda machine, I have a saying, ” I don’t believe in explanations based on bullish*t, they are to hard to walk around in”

I want to wish you luck, but you need more than luck mate, you need a whole new team that will invest in helping you succeed, cheers mate, Mark.

Yes Mark,I hope you read these comments too, everyone in the World not just Australia knows how you have been treated by the team,if you could call them that, but I suppose it is teamwork to keep you breaking down, that takes effort, and just to please the snivelling Kraut,I cant believe it mate, they did not want you to win the Race, they knew you were on the money for either ist or 2nd and just could not have you on the podium with the Squarehead,he could not be booed could he.
    Get out of there mate!

What disappoints me most is hearing commentators comparing your and S.V’s driving skills. Surely they should only be compared if you actually had like for like equipment. At what point does a conspiracy theory just become a conspiracy?

Perfectly put. Agree with the above wholeheartedly. No longer a conspiracy theory…just a conspiracy.

Mark, once again you showed what a great racer you are, well done! Such a shame you missed out on a well deserved podium due to been given the inferior car. It would be interesting to see how many wins Seb would have missed out on if he had always been given the inferior car and parts like you. This time, it backfired on the team but they really don’t care as they got the Constructors’ anyway. The other drivers and teams know how good you are. Hopefully you will now be given an even chance of achieving the top step before you retire. Good luck!

I hate to put it on but it really is hard to watch the lack of support within the Red Bull camp for Mark. Objectively speaking, Seb is undeniably one of the great drivers, who’s legacy will probably go on to rival that of Senna. But the feats that Mark has achieved on the track this year alone, prove that he is an incredible driver himself. Given the same technical support, just imagine the scorecard. However, another race and another DNF – not just outside of Mark’s control, but what should have been controlled by the Red Bull team. “Well that’s racing”…. Yes it is – once in a while, but not every second race. Seb deserves the time and money Red Bull spend on him but Mark deserves no less.
Mark, I don’t believe we’ve truly seen you let off the leash and achieve all you can. You are a true champion and I hope that in Porsche or perhaps even in F1 again, we will see what you are truly capable of.

Very much agree with the remarks already posted. You are a true gent and a great sportsman who has achieved more than most could in similar circumstances. You will be missed on TV and also, I’m sure, in the F1 paddock.

At the previous GP Vettel was heard to say over the radio ‘Keep him away from me’ when Mark was gaining. Looks like the team managed that admirably at this race. Vettel didn’t even need to tell them

Mark, your the best driver on the Grid that hasn’t won the driver’s championship. Vettel is a great driver but there is still a hell of a lot he could learn from you – humility and team-manship. You will be greatly missed from the F1 paddock thats for sure
