| Mark Webber is renown as one of the fittest Formula One drivers on today's Grand Prix grid, so when he decided he wanted to use the sport's "closed season" to combine a personal test of his own physical and mental capabilities with a fund-raising project for charity, he came up with an idea for a 10-day multi discipline event around Tasmania of cycling, kayaking and trekking!
One of Australia's best loved household names, Cadbury Schweppes, quickly recognised the similarities between Mark's and its own goals of personal and professional challenge, and readily forged an association with Australia's high profile F1 star by becoming the Challenge's title sponsor. Other major sponsors include Land Rover, Jaguar Cars and Freedom Machine.
Not content with punishing only himself, Webber has also persuaded the likes of sporting superstars, Pat Rafter, Steve Waugh, James Tomkins, Guy Andrews and David Campese to join him along the way, while teams from the Australian corporate sector are also participating.
The Cadbury Schweppes Mark Webber Challenge begins on November 7 at Marrawah on Tasmania's west coast and finishes on the Freycinet Peninsular on November 16. Fans will be able to follow the progress of the Challenge around Tasmania with photos, latest reports and daily updates on this site. |

Ten days of trekking, kayaking, mountain bike riding and road bike riding around the Tasmanian West, South and East Coast is the challenge for participants. The course will amount to approximately 1,000km of physical and mental challenges
The Tasmanian West Coast is noted for its high rainfall, rivaling Canada's West Coast and rugged isolated terrain.
On the South Coast you will see the entrance to Port Davey, a harbour as large as Sydney Harbour, yet with only three homes on site!
The course on the East Coast of Tasmania passes through beautiful farmland to Freycinet National Park and the famous Wineglass Bay.
On arrival in Tasmania, your sole focus can be The Challenge ahead, while all other requirements are taken care of. Your challenge will include, all meals, all accommodation, trek clothing, airport transfers, internal flights and kayaks.
